I live in St. Louis and want to know how many businesses area in the city and surrounding areas. How do I find out?

I have to find out how many businesses total are in an industry within a ceratin geographical location for a school paper. What site could tell me this?

My organization is known around the nation and even around the globe, with one or two chapter in every state. However we only have a national magazine. Therefore we’re trying to launch a newsmagazine which will help us reach out to the public.

There’s no doubt that the newsmagazine will be read by many. Therefore we’re trying to find area businesses to support us by advertising in the magazine for atleast $50.

The only problem is that I’m trying to figure out how to approach the area businesses. I know other magazines get other businesses to support them but the thing is how do they make it happen? What do I need to know?

A few days ago I started working for a company as an independent rep. They make it possible for businesses to accept credit card payments. If a business already accepts credit card payments, they make sure that their monthly payment is much less than what they currently pay per month. Since I am new to this, How do I find businesses that need this service or want to pay less than what they are currently? Thanks to anyone who can help!
