I transitioned my business mid 2007 to an LLC. Should I file taxes as two separate businesses? The first to include income and expenses as the sole proprietorship and the second to include income and expenses after becoming an LLC.

Or should I just include everything under the LLC?

Thanks!
It is a single owner LLC with its own Tax ID.
Also, I do not have any employees.

We feel that almost everything has been thought off on the Internet…it is almost like “internet business anxiety”

I going to start a home business pretty soon, but the thing is I don’t know anyone personally to find out how to go about starting one. So I wanted to know what are the things I need to know and things I need to do before I jump in, preferably from people who have home businesses or who are planning to start one as well.

By the way I live in Toronto, Canada. If I could get some info and advice from you all, I would appreciate it!
I’m interested in starting an online business from home, and having a website with all of these products on it so people can order them. I’m interested in selling hair products like: perms, weaves, shampoos, oils , baby/kids hair products etc. I’ve compared prices, textures and quality of these products from other stores around my area and online that sell the same kind of products jus to get an idea of what sells and what doesn’t and basically just what people prefer. So I know what I want to sell but, I just don’t know how to get it started. I know I need a business plan, and business name etc. I know you have to get it registered but how do I do all these things.

Anything that I haven’t mentioned that someone who like to share with me, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for sharing your info with me!

A friend of mine needs a job. He has been a business owner all his life, but due to the economy being so bad, he sold his business. Now he wants to work for someone, but doesn’t know how to write a resume as a business owner. Is it the same as writing a resume if you worked for a companies?
Would it be negative for the employer to know that you owned a business (for many years)? Would they think he is over-qualified?

I have worked for the 501C business for 10 yrs total, 3 in this specific business area. They no longer wish to carry this branch of their association. When they close, I will be fired. Can I start up my own for profit business, with the same business description?

How to get an online business started?

What is the most effective way to find e-mail addresses for my business without spending a fortune as my company is young and I cant afford to spend alot.

I am budgeting about 500-600 for the project and about 100 for the screen. I can afford a 2000 projector.

A ViewSonic PJ506D SVGA (800×600) 4:3/16:9 2000 lumens business projector is going for 500 with a mail free screen and mount offer.

An InFocus In72 WVGA (852×480) 900 lumens home theater projector is going for about the same refurbished with no extras.

I have read that I really should get a home theater projector rather than a business projector like the 506D, but the lumens scares me.

I am projecting on an 80″screen with blinds and curtains closed. no lights. still some ambient light.

Which will be better. I am going to use it the a really nice DVD player, Wii and Home theater PC. No interest in HD DVDs for atleast 3-4 years when I will prob upgrade this anyway.

I live in CA and am trying to avoid the $800 franchise tax. I have access to physical addresses in Oregon for free and in Washington for $120/year. This e-business probably won’t make any money in the first year. What would be the best state to form an LLC for this business? Obviously, keeping costs and taxes low are important to me. Thanks!

I’ve been thinking about opening a business mowing lawns in the summer and plowing snow in the winter now for the last 2 years now, except I’ve never actually worked in the industry. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information about the way that these business owners contract their business. Do they get a year or two contract with each business or is it by the job? Also, in either of the two scenarios how much money would be considered going rate to their customers? Thanks in advance for the information.
